We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Development Manager to join our dynamic team and drive company growth in the energy savings lighting upgrade industry in key geographic areas.
Job Description
As a Business Development Manager for Excel, you will be responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities within the energy savings industry, primarily for K-12 school districts.
You will play a critical role in expanding our customer base, building strategic partnerships, and driving revenue growth.
Your primary focus will be on developing and nurturing client relationships, understanding their energy-saving needs, developing the appropriate project scope for each client, and successfully selling the professional services offered by Excel Energy Group.
Responsibilities :
- Conduct market research to identify potential clients and industry trends.
- Generate new leads and develop a pipeline of prospective customers through various channels, including cold calling, networking, and industry events.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, influencers, and stakeholders in target organizations.
- Understand client requirements and develop customized lighting upgrade proposals that align with their energy-saving goals.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including engineering, project management, and operations, to develop comprehensive solutions and ensure successful project implementation.
- Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements, ensuring optimal profitability for the company.
- Track sales metrics and provide regular reports to the management team, highlighting progress, challenges, and opportunities.
- Stay updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and new technological advancements related to energy-saving lighting solutions.
- Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and other events to enhance brand visibility and expand professional networks.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven track record of at least 5 years in business development, sales, or account management, preferably within the energy savings performance contracting industry.
- Preferably experience with the educational market- K-12 school districts and higher education.
- Strong understanding of energy-saving technologies, lighting systems, and their applications in commercial and industrial settings.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively articulate complex concepts to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain productive relationships with clients, from initial contact to project completion.
- Self-motivated, result-oriented, and capable of working independently as well as part of a team.
- Exceptional negotiation and closing skills, with a proven ability to meet or exceed sales targets.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Willingness to travel as needed to meet with clients and attend industry events.
