JOB SUMMARY : Work associated with this position, which is in the HBC Warehouse, involves the selection of product to totes and performing tasks related to the shipping of orders. The HBC Warehouse includes products and merchandise that do not have strict temperature requirements. General warehouse duties occur within the assigned area of warehouse operations, but position supports all areas of the warehouse, as needed.
Starting at : $19.50 per hour, plus incentive pay.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
- Selects / obtains appropriate equipment.
- Collects from staging area orders that are to be selected along with pallet tag.
- Obtains totes based on store requirements.
- Selects orders from correctly assigned aisle with heavy merchandise placed on bottom of tote and light merchandise on top.
- Cleans up spills from damaged merchandise and transports it to the damaged goods area.
- Seals the tote with appropriate seal and places pallet tag on tote.
- Sets tote on conveyor belt to be loaded.
- Follows specified procedures in handling out-of-stock situations.
- Ensure efficient and courteous customer service to store locations in support of the company mission to “Run the Best Store in Town!”
- Responsible for attending on-site work during scheduled shifts to adhere to company time and attendance policies.

Work performed on floors made of concrete and wood.Warehouse conditions associated with this position are typical as related to noise, light, dust, and physical demands.Normal smoke free warehouse environment.Adequate lighting and ventilation.Normal temperature level with occasional outdoor temperature levels.Noise level normal of a warehouse environment.Freedom of movement typical of a warehouse environment.SAFETY REQUIREMENT / HAZARDS :
Must observe proper lifting techniques.Use of equipment requires caution.Utilizing and enforcing proper operating procedures, cleaning instructions (safety gloves, etc.), and proper usage age guideline is critical.Keeping the work area clean and free of debris or liquid is critical.Monitor and maintain proper lifting procedures are in place and utilized.Follow and enforce all policy regarding keeping electrical panels and emergency exits free of debris and always unblocked.Following ice and snow removal guidelines as well as wet floor signs during inclement weather or liquid spills.WORK LOCATIONS :
This position is in the HBC Warehouse of the Food City Distribution Center located in Abingdon, VA.This position is generally performed in the assigned area of warehouse operations.From time to time, it will be necessary to travel to various meeting locations as deemed necessary by supervision.WORK SCHEDULE :
Day ShiftThe payroll week runs from Monday through Sunday.Working hours are set by Warehouse Manager and should also correspond to work volume or volume planning.PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
Ability to do repetitive lifting, bending, and stooping as required to stock product into totes.Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. from floor to chest high level.Ability to walk on concrete and wood floors for up to 10 hours a day.Ability to meet standard physical demands is required, including bending, stooping, stretching, reaching, and pulling.Ability to use hands for repetitive action, such as grasping.VISUAL DEMANDS :
Ability to see under normal lighting conditions.Must possess ability to view computer screen, printed reports, product ingredient labels, and product date codes effectively and efficiently.Ability to read small print.Ability to see under normal warehouse and office environment.MENTAL DEMANDS :

Must maintain percentage set by Warehouse Management System.Must maintain mis-pick average of less than 1 per 1000 cases picked.DECISION DISCRETION :
Make decisions based on sound judgment and situation, asking for clarification from direct supervisor, when necessary.JOB QUALIFICATIONS :
Must be 18 years of age or older.Previous warehouse experience preferred.Ability to maintain minimum warehouse standards.Ability to understand and follow verbal and / or written instructions, perform routine and repetitive tasks and have constant contact / interaction with various levels of individuals daily.Ability to attend on-site work during normal business hours, in the typical work week, as well as extra time as needed to fulfill job duties.Benefits of working for Food City :
