Position Summary :
Assists physicians in interventional procedures and provides diagnostic aid. Performs diagnostic exams on patients in the specialized areas of interventional radiology.
Assists with diagnostic angiography, neuro- interventional, and other invasive procedures.
Job Requirement :
Education / Experience :
Successful completion of an AMA approved Radiologic Technology Program required; and one (1) year of experience in interventional radiology preferred.
Licensing / Certification Requirements :
State of Nevada License in Radiology. Valid American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) Registered in Radiography.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification accepted by the American Heart Association (AHA). May require National Certification in Vascular Imaging.
Knowledge :
- Procedures and protocols associated with area of assignment; specialized equipment used in area of assignment; radiography protocols and procedures;
- quality assurance and quality control measures; personal computers; anatomy and physiology of the human body; contrast application and contrast reaction symptoms;
- venipuncture techniques; department and hospital safety practices and principles; patient rights; age specific patient care practices;
infection control policies and practices; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures.
Skill :
- Utilizing computers and specialized application software for scanning and diagnostic evaluation; utilizing specialized equipment and techniques for diagnostic evaluation;
- applying aseptic techniques; positioning patients properly to maximize results; communicating with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds;
establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.
