We seeking a talented, motivated person to join our elementary / middle school staff as a Special Education Teacher!
Position Summary :
Under the guidance of the Building Principal, ensures that the District's standards for student instruction and curriculum are followed, and consistent with the student population to which the teacher is assigned.
Special Education Teacher Duties and Responsibilities :
- Work with individual students to determine their specific educational needs and challenges
- Develop and revise individual educational programs to give students a clear path to academic success
- Create both personal and group-focused work for students, fostering their intellectual curiosity and academic ability
- Foster personal growth in all students, empathizing with children who have unique and varied experiences and viewpoints
- Communicate with school personnel, colleagues, parents, and students concerning pupil instructional needs and progress
- Differentiate instruction to ensure the needs of all students are met
- Foster positive, collaborative relationships with students and parents
- Attend staff meetings and in-service training sessions
- Perform other duties or responsibilities assigned by the building administrators
Terms of Employment :
Salary to be determined by the Board of Education
Special Education Teacher Requirements and Qualifications
- Must be fully certified according to the requirements set forth by the Department of Education of the State of New Jersey
- Experience teaching children with special needs is a plus
- Ability to build rapport with students
- Compassionate and empathetic
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
