Position Summary :
Under the direct supervision of a Nurse Supervisor / Healthcare Administrator and / or Provider the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is responsible for :
- Providing routine and basic nursing care to patients, including infants, children, adolescents and adults in a community health center environment at our Locke Wellness Center.
- Ensures services meet clinic standards of excellence and the satisfaction of patients.
- Participate as the main drivers of direct and indirect care that WHCC provides to patients / community.
- Supports the provider in working in flow . Working in flow balances the skill-task alignment across staff to reduce the overall time needed to perform each task, and as a result, helps to make the clinic day more efficient.
In addition, wasteful activities that add no value, but are currently required, are identified and eliminated. This includes duplicate tasks, unnecessary processes, extra physical burdens, waiting, and overproduction.
- Ensures efficiency in the delivery of direct and indirect care to improve efficiencies, expedite patient care and improve workflow.
- Must participate as an Electronic Health Record (eCW) super user, with advanced knowledge of the medical records system.
Secondary Responsibilities :
- Cross trains in other duties to provide support during absences, crisis situations or heavy workloads.
- Performs related duties as assigned by health center administrator, provider and / or nurse supervisor / manager.

To perform effectively in this position, this incumbent is required to have :
- Medical Assistant Certificate of completion from a California accredited school is required.
- CPR certified Adult, Child, Infant for the professional rescuer, sponsored by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross (Professional Rescuer) required.
- Skills in performing venipuncture (phlebotomy), EKGs, audiometry, vision screening, etc.
- Minimum of five years of continuous employment at WHCC, other community health centers or healthcare facilities with a proven track record of excellent attendance and excellent performance.

- Fully fluent in English and Spanish strongly preferred.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).
