Compensation : $135k-$160k base salary plus a discretional 20% performance-based bonus with the ability to max at 30%

As a growing company dedicated to general excellence, specifically being the best in our industry, we are seeking a talented individual to join our team as a Business Development Manager for West Grocery.
This person will report directly to the Head of West Grocery / Value Channel and will have ample opportunity to grow into a broader role and progress into more senior positions.
The Business Development Manager for West Grocery ensures overall account performance goals are achieved and that volume and profit objectives are exceeded for assigned accounts in the southwestern and south-central US with a particular focus on Texas and Arizona.
This role is responsible for annual Net Sales delivery and finance planning, creating and managing trade promotion spend, driving marketplace sales and share growth while cementing bonds with key retailers in the southwestern and south-central region.
This position will concentrate on key accounts exemplified by HEB, Affiliated and United in Texas, and Bashas’ in Arizona to name a few.
Growing the categories and working across functions within the organization will be essential. This position will also assist in the strategic development of the assigned accounts and will promote effective customer relationships, partnering with key individuals at all levels within the customers’ organization, gaining a full understanding of customers’ needs, anticipating changes in the business environment and further solidifying Insignia International as an industry leader in the eyes of customers.
This role works in unison with Insignia’s Sales Strategy, Marketing, and Management teams to hone a successful growth platform, identifying business opportunities, setting and communicating priorities, and coordinating appropriate resources to achieve desired results.
Job responsibilities :
- Own and execute growth plan to deliver ambitious sales goals of innovative items across categories in the territory
- Perform market research and analysis to uncover business prospects, comprehend market movements, consumer demands, and the competitive field
- Drive sales growth by identifying and securing new business opportunities with grocery chains, independent grocery stores, and other relevant retail partners
- Broaden market reach in Texas, Arizona and surrounding states by targeting key accounts like HEB, Affiliated, United and Bashas’
- Forge enduring relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders within the southwest and south-central US grocery channel
- Achieve superlative rapport with customer partners to maximize potential opportunities, identify customer needs and further develop key initiatives while functioning as a hands-on leader who provides them with exceptional attention and guidance
- Gain clear understanding of customer priorities, identify and quantify growth opportunities, and communicate findings clearly to internal stakeholders
- Track, monitor, and report on key performance metrics, sales forecasts, and market conditions to senior management
- Collaborate with cross functional teams, including Strategy, Marketing and Management to execute annual operating plan and strategic KPI’s.
This includes implementation of sales growth platforms, monitoring and analyzation of business performance, budget management, retailer partnership across various functions, and ownership of volume, profit and share results
- Lead selling efforts on innovation, core distribution voids and merchandising strategies to optimize product mix, placement, retails and maximize promotional plans
- Develop, implement, and evaluate sales promotion plans, utilization of market development funds and merchandising vehicles and ensure execution, tracking, and review of all programs
- Support creation of selling materials and presentations
- Improve processes, procedures and efficiencies related to customer business, supply chain and service by working cross-functionally with other business units
Minimum Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree
- 3+ years of experience in consumer package goods (CPG) sales; track record of success with HEB, Affiliated Grocers, United and / or Bashas’ a strong plus
- Syndicated Data experience SPINS, Circana
- Financial experience including P&L management
- Proven track record of developing sales plans and delivering results across complex businesses
- Exceptional sales skills including negotiation, account management, account penetration and strategic selling
- Experience strategically assessing the market landscape, building and executing specific strategies to win business
- Strong leader with the ability to motivate, take risks, and make decisions quickly
- Ability to influence others up the organization, laterally, and below both internally and externally
- High level of intellect with a roll-up your sleeves mentality
- Strong degree of energy with a results-oriented mindset
- Strong communication and listening skills with the ability to adjust style to effectively interact with external customers and internal personnel
