POSITION SUMMARY :
The Scientist II will lead projects including managing project timelines and deliverables. Provide / implement effective workflow solutions with approval.
Technically lead and effectively supervise, with hands-on involvement, the completion and accuracy of critical lab work.
Design and develop new and improved protocols in support of internal and external projects. Ensure all scientific and project documentations are complying with regulatory requirements.
Intellectually convey data and results for presentations, posters, and meetings including written materials, images, and figure production.
May represent the group at offsite meetings with collaborators, upon request.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Mentor the completion and accuracy of critical lab work.
Proactively propose the development of new and improved protocols and models in support of internal and external projects.
Works independently and as part of the team.
Intellectually contribute to presentations, posters, and lab meetings through written materials and figure production.
With some direction from supervisor determines best approach for presenting research findings to internal and external stakeholders.
May represent the group at offsite meetings with collaborators, upon request.
Coordinate tasks across multiple projects, demonstrating prioritization, and planning.
Participate in group meetings for discussion of data and suggested next steps.
Maintain detailed records of the work carried out (electronic lab notebook).
Prepare and present results at internal meetings.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED :
Ph.D. required with a minimum of two years of experience in the development and execution of biological laboratory procedures or a Masters in Biological Science or related field and a minimum of ten years of laboratory experience.
Excellent communication (verbal and written), collaboration, problem-solving skills.
Strong time management and organization skills, including the ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize and keep organized to ensure timely and accurate work.
Excellent attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
Developed leadership and management capabilities.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS :
May supervise one or more Research Associates.
WORKING CONDITIONS :
Research Lab with chemical and biological hazards present.
Must have access to reliable transportation.
Use of computer required.
Sitting, bending, reaching, and walking.
