About The Position
Job Title : MRI Technologist Job Specialty : Radiology Job Duration : 20 Weeks Shift : Days, 4x10, Monday - Thursday, 06 : 30 AM to 05 : 00 PM Guaranteed Hours : 36 Hours per Week Experience : 1+ Years License : ARRT Certifications : Must-Have : IV Starts Job Description : Perform imaging procedures, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care while acting as a patient advocate.
- Apply principles of radiation protection when appropriate, with exceptions for MRI.- Evaluate exams and procedures for technical quality and recognize patient conditions that require immediate action, initiating life support measures when necessary.
- Provide excellence in hospitality, courtesy, and compassion.- Operate imaging and imaging-related equipment and position and immobilize patients as necessary.
- Obtain clinical data and patient history for correlation with the exam.- Practice radiation protection for both the patient and self, with MRI exclusions.
- Apply ALARA and Image Gently principles where applicable.- Select technical factors and imaging modes and evaluate images for quality.
- Perform post-processing of images.- Assume care for the physical and psychological needs of patients during treatments and examinations, practicing aseptic techniques as necessary.
- Maintain IV skills for CT, MR, and Diagnostic day shifts.- Assist physicians, nursing units, and physician offices in ordering exams and procedures appropriate to patient needs and age, considering recent radiation exposure.
- Ensure exams and procedures are charged correctly.- Practice MR safety, responsible for the protection of magnetic zones.
- Verify correct patient, imaging site, positioning, imaging protocols, and scanner parameters before conducting any exam or procedure.
The position is based in a 245-bed Level 3 Emergency and Trauma Center with certifications and designations for Comprehensive Cardiac, Primary Stroke, Level II Stroke, and Level I STEMI Centers.
