Make a Difference in the Lives of Hospice Patients
At Caretenders Hospice , we understand that volunteers are an integral part of end-of-life care. Our volunteers make connections with those who need a hand to hold, a heart to listen, or have a story to share.
"Our fingerprints don't fade from the lives we touched."- Judy Blume
Volunteer companions provide our residents with social and emotional support. During visits, volunteers participate in activities with the residents such as reading the newspaper or books, taking walks, listening to music, sharing stories and reminiscing, or providing friendship by simply being present in their lives at that moment.
Whether you want to see the impact you can make in the lives of patients directly or prefer to work behind the scenes, we invite you to become a member of a dedicated group of compassionate caregivers who serve as vital members of our hospice team. Caretenders Hospice - a proud member of the LHC Group family - has been serving Hennepin / Ramsey / Scott / Dakota counties for 14 years, and we have the honor of being a Level 3 We Honor Veterans partner.
Most of our volunteers spend 1-2 hours of their time each week building up relationships with their patients. Visit times are flexible and individualized to what is best for the resident as well as the volunteer. We also provide volunteers with all the training they may need as well as any additional support our volunteers may need!
Hospice volunteers often say that helping those in need at a critical point in their lives is profoundly and emotionally meaningful.
