Position Summary
The Unemployment Hearing Consultant is a human resource professional responsible for full-cycle unemployment claims response, including preparing clients for appeal and hearing process and facilitating communication on their behalf.
The Hearing Consultant represents our Professional Employer Organizations (PEO) in hearings and may also present the client's case, when allowed by state regulation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Acts as the primary contact between clients, our internal TPA (Third Party Administrator), and state agencies on matters related to unemployment claims, appeals, hearings, and hearing appeals.
- Responsible for receiving and analyzing unemployment claim information and preparing clients for unemployment hearings.
- Serves as client / PEO representative in unemployment hearings to ensure that the client is best represented, and the claim is adjudicated effectively and in the best interest of our PEO / client.
- Interprets hearing decision and hearings to provide consultation on the best course of action, appealing hearing decision if necessary.
- Claims Management : reviews, analyze, and processes unemployment benefit claims. Verifies and interprets information collected through various methods to determine and advise clients on the best course of action.
- Completes client billing for hearing-related services.
- Benefit Charge Analysis : may assist in monitoring and tracking assessed claim charges, handling protests, track credits and resolutions.
- Participates in projects and departmental initiatives, identifies training, documentation, and system enhancement needs and addresses them to improve departmental processes and efficiencies.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Advanced knowledge of unemployment benefit claims terminology, methods, and procedures. Including state compliance and regulatory laws.

- years relevant HR / Managerial work experience
- Prior experience facilitating Unemployment Hearings
