Airport Operations Representative II - Airside
JOB DESCRIPTION
Purpose of Job
The purpose of this job is to ensure that airport operations are carried out safely and efficiently and in accordance with pertinent regulations and policies.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are normal for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Oversees and inspects aircraft operating areas at the Airport for compliance with established Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and City policies and regulations and maintains records of inspections as required by the FAA.
Inspects runways, taxiways and ramps for proper and safe operations and initiates any necessary corrective actions.
Directs response activities for aircraft emergencies, hazmat spills, bomb threats / hijackings, the removal of disabled aircraft and other related emergencies in accordance with the Airport Emergency Plan and FAR Part 139.
Coordinates with construction contractors on airfield projects and conducts safety inspections of operations.
Monitors construction activity to ensure compliance with Advisory Circulars.
Provides escorts in aircraft movement areas as needed.
Participates in the HJAIA Safety Management System.
Enforces City codes, federal regulations and departmental guidelines.
Directs snow removal according to plan.
Coordinates safety procedures, investigates injuries, prepares reports and processes associated paperwork.
Monitor, track, coordinate and record aircraft utilizing the common use parking areas and cargo bays.
Planning and Organizing
Assists with planning and presenting on-the-job, classroom and team training opportunities.
Assists upper level management with developing budgets, business plans, standard operating procedures, and compiling various forms of data.
Responds to all airfield emergencies and assists within the Airport's Incident Command Structure. Responsible for decisions that stabilize the situation, affect life safety and preserve property.
Determines recovery efforts and activities to return the Airport back to normal operations. Notifies management and affected departments of incidents that affect the normal operation of the airport.
Communication
Communicates daily with the cargo and airline tenants.
Issues Notices to Airmen to advise users of changes to published airfield conditions and changes to airfield status.
Prepares, distributes and disseminates pertinent, significant and required reports to executives, airport agencies and tenants.
Monitors weather conditions that may impact operations and monitors aircraft departure queues, ensuring compliance with the Tarmac Delay Program.
Ensures Operations Management is kept apprised of significant events occurring during the shift.
Apprises appropriate division managers or supervisors of any unusual occurrences that may affect their operation.
Verifies facts and ensures details are relayed to public information unit if media coverage is appropriate.
Plans and facilitates tenant meetings.
Communicates effectively and exchanges information in a professional and positive manner with customers, tenants, airport employees and other staff members.
Administrative Duties
Prepares daily reports, logs and forms.
Monitors supplies and equipment and keeps appropriate staff apprised of needs.
Attends airport safety-related meetings and seminars as necessary.
Keeps abreast of all FAA, state, local and DOA regulations, safety and compliance requirements.
Ensures the Airport Certification Manual, Airport Emergency Plan, Winter Weather Operations Plan, SMGCS Plan, and all other federally-mandated plans and Department SOPs remain current at all times.
Record Keeping and Documentation
Prepares records of all incidents occurring on each shift.
Documents daily airfield inspections to validate airport and airfield compliance with FAA FAR Part 139 and other governmental agencies laws and regulations.

Has the mathematical ability to handle required calculations. The candidate will be knowledgeable and skilled in the use of computers;
able to read, understand, and interpret federal regulations and related materials.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions.
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited University or College in Aviation Management, Airport Management, or a closely related field.
A minimum of one year of progressively responsible FAR Part 139 airside operations experience is required. Other degree programs may be considered if combined with two years of progressively responsible FAR Part 139 airside operations experience.
Must possess a valid Georgia driver's license prior to employment.
MUST BE ABLE TO PERFORM THE FOLLOWING ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : Must be physically able to operate a variety of job related machines and office equipment. Must be able to move or carry related objects or materials.
Physical demand requirements are at levels of those for active work.

Successful candidate may be required to produce reports with proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar, using all parts of speech.

determine percentages; determine time and weight; and interpret same as may be appropriate.
