JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS :

The Pennsylvania State University, Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), University Park has openings for two part-time Mental Health Counselor positions available beginning August 8, 4.

Hours worked are to hours per week during the academic year only.

CAPS is committed to the development of a safe and inclusive community that fosters academic, social, cultural, and personal growth.

Responsibilities include providing phone triage, urgent assessment / stabilization / follow-up, and short-term individual therapy.

Supervision is provided for a successful applicant who wants to accrue supervised hours toward licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Preference is given to candidates who have experience providing services to diverse populations, such as, but not limited to, underrepresented students, international students, and sexual & / gender diverse students.

All clinicians on our staff perform their duties while adhering to and promoting trauma-informed care and healing-centered approaches and principles, in alignment with the establishment of the Commonwealth of PA as a trauma-informed, healing centered state.

A minimum of a master’s degree in social work, counseling, or a related discipline is required. Licensed eligible in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a Clinical Social Worker, Professional Counselor, or Psychologist is required.

Current licensure as a Professional Counselor, Clinical Social Worker, or Psychologist is preferred.

State College, PA, a university town, with a population of , (which includes the State College borough and surrounding townships) was recently cited as one of the top university towns in the United States.

Pittsburgh and Philadelphia are 3 to 4 hours from State College and Baltimore is about 3 hours. State College and the university provide the major intellectual, cultural, and recreational resources for central Pennsylvania.
