How you make a difference :
The Licensed Nurse, under the direction of the Director of Nursing, provides licensed nursing care and related technical work for mentally ill individuals, ensuring the safety of the milieu by evaluating medical stabilization, monitoring, assessment, crisis intervention, providing structured activities and support.
They are responsible for documenting daily care, reporting changes to physicians, and assisting with licensed nursing-related duties assigned.
The Licensed Nurse must promote a safe, clean, and healthy environment and follow required procedures for handling, cleaning, or moving of objects / materials.
They ensure compliance with department protocols, policies, guidelines, and facility standards and communicate regularly with other members of the multidisciplinary team.
This position requires physical capabilities, flexibility in schedule, and the ability to work in a variety of conditions and multiple environments, with 85% of duties including direct client care.
Key Responsibilities :
Give immunizations; prepare and administer prescribed medications orally, subcutaneously, intramuscularly, rectally, topically, and by inhalation.
Properly record medications and treatments in the client’s chart; take vital signs; observe, document and report patient reactions to medication and treatments.
Assist Physicians / Registered Nurses (RNs) with diagnostic tests, treatments and therapeutic measures and observe and record clients’ reactions.
Assist in the formulation, re-evaluation and adjustment of client care plans to meet physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs of each patient.
Observe client’s behavior; identify symptoms which may interfere with the client’s capacity to function; develop good rapport and understanding with the client in order to obtain specific goals;
discuss nursing assignments, nursing care, and needs of individual clients with Clinical Staff based on observations and ongoing assessment of client's behavior, and plan therapeutic measures of intervention before a crisis occurs.
Qualifications & Requirements :
Education
Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) degree from an accredited school of nursing; is a basic requirement for all Licensed Nurse levels.
Experience
None beyond the basic requirements. Licensed Nurses at this level are expected to perform all duties within the scope of their licensure.
However, completed work may require routine or detailed higher-level review depending upon the complexity of the duties involved.
Licenses / Certifications
Must possess a current, unrestricted California license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (L.V.N), Licensed Psychiatric Technician (L.P.T.).
