Experience : Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience is preferred
License : Registered Nurse (RN) approved by a board of nursing
Certifications : BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, PALS required; CPI or MAB / MOAB preferred
Must-Have :
- Experience with a broad range of patient types and conditions typical of an Emergency Room setting
- Proficiency in ESI Triage assessments
- Ability to deliver patient care prioritizing critical needs
Job Description :
- Handle a diverse patient population ranging from neonates to geriatrics with conditions such as sepsis, DKA, respiratory illnesses, GI bleeding, heavy trauma, and stroke symptoms
- Provide care in a Level 2 trauma center, actively engaged during high trauma periods
- Perform evidence collection and victim interviews for sexual assault patients in rotation with permanent staff, excluding pelvic exams
- Manage critically ill pediatric and multiple cardiac patients, supported by a cardiac catheter lab
- Function as a triage nurse, adept in distinguishing critical from non-critical conditions
- Work with a patient ratio of RN : 1 : 4-5 or LPN : 1 : 4-5, supported by ED Techs at 1 : 10
- Participate in orientation, comprising facility NEO, specific ED education, and unit shifts
Support on the unit includes :
- ED Tech
- Lead Tech
- Charge nurses available 24 / 7
- Phlebotomy service 24 / 7
- Radiology / CAT Scan and other specialized support staff
Additional Notes :
- Knowledge of EPIC charting system preferred
- Additional floating duties may include tasks within Med / Surg, PCU, or ICU areas
- Scrub color is Navy
- Variable shift times, with potential weekend scheduling based on staffing needs
- No on-call required; holiday work as needed
- Managerial approval required for time off requests
