The Assistant Director, Donor Engagement (Principal Gifts Stewardship) is responsible for supporting the proper stewardship of Georgetown University’s top donors.

The diversity of workload requires creativity, teamwork, flexibility, efficiency, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks while meeting deadlines for a wide variety of assignments.

This position also requires tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality in dealing with members of the University community and the University’s donors.

The work of the Assistant Director ultimately touches the university’s most significant donors at every level. Thus, a strong sense of responsibility, integrity, thoroughness, attention to detail, and timeliness are critical.

Errors and poor judgment can have a negative impact on the university’s relationship with its donors and their level of trust.

Due to the level of confidential information handled, this position requires careful judgment and discretion. The diversity of workload requires flexibility, efficiency, and the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines for a wide variety of assignments.

Primary responsibilities include :

Oversee events support management and execution.

Support the implementation of stewardship plans for deepening the stewardship of multi-million-dollar donors to move them to their next gift commitment to Georgetown.

Deepen a donor’s commitment to Georgetown, thanking them for their gift and / or ongoing support, demonstrating the impact of their support, and sharing with them new initiatives and university priorities.

Work closely with development staff and those in campaign management and donor experience departments to ensure that we are thoughtfully and strategically engaging Georgetown’s community of donors.

Work Interactions

The Assistant Director, Donor Engagement (Principal Gifts Stewardship) reports to the Director, Principal Gifts Stewardship.

This position works with both a broad range of university-wide colleagues and external constituents and is highly collaborative and service-oriented.

The Assistant Director works closely with the following staff (but not exclusively) :

Principal and Transformative Giving Operations, Presidential and Principal Engagement, Donor Engagement (Principal Deployment) Team, Unit and Regional Development Officers, Stewardship Team, Donor Events Team, Data Analytics Group, Budget and Business Operations, Communications Team and many other key stakeholders across the Office of Advancement.

Staff, faculty, university administrators, donors, parents, non-alumni constituents as well as high level donors and key volunteers.

Requirements and Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree

2-3 years of administrative, event planning, fundraising or other relevant experience

Excellent writing skills with strong attention to detail

Strong computer skills, including Microsoft applications

Independent thinker, creative, and not afraid to take initiative

Strong sense of customer service and a positive attitude

Successfully manage interactions with a wide array of personalities in a professional and positive manner

Knowledge of Salesforce a plus

Work Mode Designation

Pay Range :

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is :

$47,586.00 - $87,558.13

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
