Job Description
Primary Purpose
This is a unique role which gives the Analyst an opportunity to fully comprehend Sempra's businesses from a multitude of
perspectives and develop both a qualitative and quantitative skillset. The incumbent will support the Investor Relations program
through proactive daily contact with the financial community. Work with senior management to shape the firms external
messaging for equity / debt research analysts and investors. The job has a wide scope which requires timely, concise and clear
communication, independent thinking, critical analysis, strong research capabilities, detail orientation and a strong work ethic.
Responsibilities include : Provide updates to senior management on market activity and selected peer updates; draft external
presentations and associated talking points; evaluate sell-side financial models to ensure accurate presentation based on public
financial information; research investor questions; collaborate with Business Units to develop top Q&A for Senior Management
ahead of earnings calls; communicate with investors about key financial, operational and strategic issues; and develop and
manage relationships with key investors and research analysts.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Drafts form presentation, associated script, Top Q&A for quarterly earnings calls and analyst conferences.
- Researches complex financial questions from investors and summarizes into concise and compelling
responses.
Prepares periodic reports for senior management and Board of Directors on share performance and market
trends.
- Pro-actively tracks peer company activity and identifies meaningful trends for senior management.
- Reviews equity research on Sempra and peers to identify areas of clarification and trends for management
awareness.
- Organizes and executes events with institutional investors and potential investors.
- Executes all day-of earnings call logistics including external news blasts, audio recordings and day-of
activity tracking.
Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field, required.
- CPA, CMA, MBA and / or other professional certifications / advanced degrees, preferred.
Experience
5+ years previous experience or equivalent training and / or experience, required.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong computer / presentation skills.
- Adept at using Microsoft Office products including PowerPoint and Excel.
- Ability to analyze company financial statements.
- Thorough understanding of capital markets.
- High communication and analytical capabilities.
- Ability to think independently and possesses sound judgement.
- Must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire.
- We offer a hybrid work environment. Although the schedule may vary, typically this will allow you to work from the office three days per week and work remotely on the remaining workdays.
Work Schedule
HYBRID : Sempra employees work a combination of onsite and remote days each week, typically 3 days per week.
