The Youth and Family Research Program (YFRP) in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh is dedicated to understanding the development of alcohol use disorder.
We are seeking a part time Statistician to perform analyses examining the genetic and environmental influences underlying alcohol use disorder.
This position is grant funded.
Responsibilities :
- Design and carry out statistical analysis
- Collaborate closely with investigators and other team members as needed to complete publications etc.
- Document analyses and constructs used in analysis.
- Participate in the preparation of manuscripts and research reports and presentations from data generated by these studies.
- Write new programs for data analysis and conduct new data analysis as needed.
- Master's degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Psychology, or a related Social Science field is required.
- One year of relevant experience with statistical analyses and packages (e.g. SAS, SPSS, R) and Microsoft Office components (e.
g. EXCEL, Word, PowerPoint) preferably in research setting.
- Analytic skills include regression analysis and machine learning algorithms, specifically unsupervised learning such as k-means and hierarchical clustering
- Excellent command of R, SPSS, SAS, and preferably Mplus.
- Knowledge of structural equation modeling
- Interest in and ability to learn methods for analyzing genomic data (prior experience not necessary but desired)
