Job Description

$1,000 Sign on Bonus for External CMA Candidates Only

PCT Job Summary / Purpose : The Patient Care Tech II reports to the Nurse Manager. Under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, The PCT II performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes.

CMA Job Summary / Purpose : Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Certified Medical Assistant performs multi-skilled activities to support a decentralized patient-centered approach to patient care and achieve desired outcomes.

PCT Minimum Training and Education : A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) required. One year of patient care work experience in a health care facility, Certified Nursing Assistant, EMT or Paramedic certification, Bachelor’s Degree or enrollment in a healthcare related program with successful completion of a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, or Nursing Fundamentals course at an accredited institution or equivalent training preferred.

CMA Minimum Training and Education : High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an accredited medical assisting program with one year of patient care experience preferred.

Basic computer skills required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR / AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

Annual competencies are required to be maintained. Possess ability to understand and implement a variety of detailed instructions in the execution of therapeutic procedures and ability to make accurate physical observation of patients.

  • Failure to abide by MUHA policies are subject to disciplinary action, including termination. Employee must possess considerable knowledge of basic medical terminology and human anatomy;

CMA Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations : Must be certified through the American Medical Technologist (AMT) or American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or National Health career Association (NHA) or MedCA as a Certified Clinical & Administrative Medical Assistant (MA1), or National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR / AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
