Senior Manager, Software Engineering - Data

Position Summary...

What you'll do...

The Sponsored Search Data team is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining data pipelines, databases and ETL processes for Walmart's Sponsored Search Advertising platform.

Additionally, we collaborate with other teams within Walmart to ensure data quality, availability and reliability for analytics and reporting for advertisers using the self-serve platform.

About Team :

Our team creates reusable technologies to help with customer acquisition, onboarding, and empowering merchants, while ensuring a seamless experience for both of these stakeholders.

We also optimize tariffs and assortment in accordance with Walmart's Everyday Low Cost philosophy. We not only create affordability, but we also deliver customized experiences for customers across all channels - in-store, mobile app, and websites.

What you'll do :

• Demonstrated strong leadership skills and a growth mindset, with a passion for developing scalable systems
• Minimum of 3 years of management experience in a technical organization - Proficiency in data-driven and data-informed product development
• Strong understanding of backend software engineering, data engineering, and basic data science
• Proven track record of attracting and nurturing talented engineers - Deep knowledge of big data challenges and ecosystem
• Experience with SQL, data modeling, ETL processes, and building data pipelines
• Familiarity with Spark, Spark Streaming, and Kafka
• Previous collaboration with Data Science or analytics teams
• Open-minded, structured thinker, and experienced leader
• Proficiency in at least one high-level programming language, such as Python - Graduate degree in Computer Science or related field

• Provide technical guidance and expertise in various aspects of data engineering within a scalable ecosystem
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to foster a culture of collaboration - Participate in code reviews, pull requests, and design reviews
• Identify areas for continuous improvement and advocate for necessary actions
• Delegate tasks, provide context, and coach team members to exceed expectations
• Develop a vision and strategy for the team, leveraging your understanding of business and technology
• Engage, coach, and guide high-performing engineers to achieve success
• Mentor individual team members to help them reach their full potential through observation and feedback

The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00-$286,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications...

Option 1 : Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Option 2 : 7 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

2 years’ supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications...

Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
