Senior Project Manager

The Opportunity

The Senior Project Manager at Westphal & Co., Inc., leads electrical construction projects from inception to completion ensuring efficiency, profitability, and client satisfaction.

They act as a key liaison between the company and clients, support field operations, mentor other Project Managers, and contribute to business development through relationship-building and market expansion efforts.

This role requires a blend of office, site, and external engagements to effectively manage projects and uphold industry standards and company goals.

This role can be onsite at either location - Milwaukee or Madison!

Key Responsibilities

Project Oversight

  • Manage project lifestyle from bidding through completion, ensuring adherence to budget, schedule, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to optimize resource allocation and project execution.

Client Relations

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, addressing inquiries and concerns promptly to enhance satisfaction and ensure project success.
  • Regularly communicate project updates, milestones, and deliverables to clients to ensure alignment with expectations.

Business Development

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities by networking with potential clients and industry stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development of proposals, bids, and presentations to secure new projects and expand market presence.

Team Leadership

  • Provide leadership and guidance to project teams, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
  • Mentor and coach junior Project Managers, supporting their professional development and project management skills.

Industry Compliance :

  • Ensure projects comply with industry standards, codes, and safety regulations throughout all phases of construction.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to implement innovative solutions and maintain competitive advantage.

Skills and Qualifications :

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders including clients, team members, and subcontractors.
  • Strong leadership abilities with a proven track record in project management, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource management.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to identify opportunities for operational improvements and business growth.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools and a commitment to continuous professional development in the field of electrical construction.

Education and Experience :

Minimum of 8+ years of experience in electrical construction project management, with demonstrated success in overseeing projects of varying complexity and scale.

Working Conditions :

  • Regular travel to project sites and client meetings required.
  • Flexible work schedule to accommodate project demands and deadlines.

Reporting Structure :

The Senior Project Manager reports directly to the Project Executive, collaborating closely to achieve project and organizational goals.

What the Role Entails

The following are detailed performance objectives for the Senior Project Manager. When measuring overall aptitude and cultural fit, all candidates will be benchmarked using these standards.

Performance Objectives :

  • 90 Days : Achieve proficiency with core software tools and integrate them into team processes.
  • 180 Days : Independently manage project schedules and support project execution, while mastering internal communication flow.
  • 365 Days : Lead projects independently, contribute to new project initiatives, and expand professional network through active engagement in at least 4 industry events.
