About the Role
We're looking for a hands-on Director of Engineering to lead our team through direct guidance and personal example. This role combines high-level strategic thinking with significant individual contribution.
You'll be deeply involved in coding, pair programming, and code reviews, while also empowering team members to make critical technical decisions.
Your expertise will be crucial in shaping our technical strategy and advancing our mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively contribute to our codebase, spending a significant portion of your time coding alongside the team.
- Find and recruit new engineering talent in conjunction with the recruitment team.
- Conduct thorough code reviews and provide constructive feedback to continually improve the team's technical skills.
- Mentor and teach other engineers, fostering their growth in both technical and practical skills.
- Stay at the cutting edge of AI / ML technologies and integrate new advancements into our work.
You Are
- An passionate coder who thrives on hands-on development and problem-solving.
- A skilled leader capable of inspiring and guiding a team to build quickly while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Committed to staying current with the latest engineering practices and AI / ML advancements.
- A natural mentor who enjoys teaching and nurturing talent.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in engineering management, with a strong track record of leading teams in fast-paced, data-driven environments.
- 10+ years of coding experience.
- Practical experience with machine learning theory and practices.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Mastery of Agile / Scrum methodologies and their effective implementation.
