2025 Summer Internship - NERC Compliance
Overall Purpose
Becoming a top-performing utility requires forward thinking, the ability to balance risk and strict compliance with ever-changing federal regulations, and strong governmental relations which is where the Office of General Counsel (OGC) department comes in.
The OGC leverages the synergies between legal, compliance, internal audit and enterprise risk management, collectively providing corporate services to DQE Holdings LLC, Duquesne Light Holdings, Inc.
and its subsidiaries, including Duquesne Light Company and DQE Communications. The OGC also includes the Corporate Secretary function for all Duquesne entities, including the governance of the ownership group and the Board of Directors.
The OGC seeks intern(s) for full-time (40 hours / week) positions for the Summer 2025 Internship program.
Job Responsibilities :
- Assist NERC Compliance team in Office of General Counsel, with NERC Reliability Standard (CIP and 693) compliance activities.
- Review and package evidence associated with potential violations, mitigation actions and update tracking databases / spreadsheets.
- Review compliance documentation for accuracy, potential improvements, and any needed changes.
- Conduct research using legal search engines (Westlaw, Lexis) or other research tools
Education / Experience :
Education Required : Second year engineering (electrical, information systems, network) student at an accredited engineering school.
Education Preferred : Prior work or internship experience in a corporate or organizational environment is a plus.
Skills / Abilities :
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.
Physical Requirements :
Work will be conducted in a hybrid environment with some time working remotely, and some time required to be in-office / on-site.
Candidates must be within close proximity to Pittsburgh.

Hybrid Work :
All internships follow our hybrid work model, with a minimum of two days working in the office and the remaining days working remotely.
Interns must be in the immediate Pittsburgh area for the summer. Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.
