POSITION SUMMARY :

HIAS seeks a Training Specialist for the Resettlement & Integration department, which includes early resettlement, social inclusion, and economic inclusion programming, to assist and support creation of trainings and management of training platforms that support HIAS’ resettlement affiliate network.

The Training Specialist should understand and be able to incorporate adult learning theory in trainings and have experience with providing training to immigrants and individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

To support building staff capacity in our refugee resettlement network, this position will identify learning needs with subject matter experts, identify how to meet the gap in learning needs and design online and in-person learning opportunities.

The Training Specialist will collaborate with program managers to organize and coordinate annual trainings and conferences for affiliates.

The Training Specialist will track data and evaluate affiliate comprehension to ensure retention of knowledge.

Note, the salary range for this position is $65,000.00-70,000.00.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

  • Develops comprehensive training strategy to meet affiliate needs at the management and case management staff level; incorporates adult learning theory to maximize learning potential and knowledge retention.
  • Develops tools and resources that will deepen and strengthen affiliate learning and retention.
  • Assesses training effectiveness and devises new strategies to meet ongoing knowledge gap.
  • Assists with learner support and adoption of core learning technologies, including Learning Management Software (Litmos), eLearning development tools and web and mobile technology.
  • Works with Program teams to create Litmos training modules for affiliate staff ongoing learning.
  • Develops monthly training schedule in collaboration with the Resettlement & Integration team, as well as longer term programming for refugees.
  • Coordinates activities with current corporate partners (Airbnb, Rosetta Stone, Cell Ed, etc.) and assists in the development of new learning opportunities.
  • Keeps current with latest trends, as well as learning technology best practices.
  • Coordinates New Resettlement Director Training.
  • Coordinates National Affiliate Conference.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS :

  • Undergraduate degree; an additional minimum of 4 years of related experience may be considered in lieu of an undergraduate degree.
  • 3-5 years of related experience, including training using Learning Management Systems.
  • Exposure to instructional design software and LMS functionality.
  • Experience with educating immigrants and individuals with diverse cultural background preferred.
  • Detail-oriented with strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate learners who may not be technologically proficient.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment to meet project deadlines.
  • Ability to quickly understand and assimilate new technologies.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills including multi-tasking, prioritizing, planning and effective time management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, specifically Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Refugee resettlement knowledge preferred.
  • Lived experience of migration preferred.
  • Travel, to include travel to insecure operating environments, may be required.
