Good Samaritan Hospice, a mission of Concordia Lutheran Ministries, provides compassionate home care, facility based, and inpatient hospice services to our patients and their families.
Our home care coverage area spreads throughout several counties in Western Pennsylvania with inpatient locations in Wexford, Cabot, and Beaver.
The Good Samaritan Hospice team works together to provide relief through pain control and symptom management, while offering emotional, social and spiritual support for the patient and family.

The on-call Registered Nurse (RN) as a member of the hospice team that responds to after-hour patient needs as determined by the after-hours triage team.
The RN will be expected to give direct nursing care to hospice patients in accordance with the policies and procedures of Good Samaritan Hospice.
Care for the patient is given where the patient resides (, patient’s home, facility, hospital). This position would work 7 days on / 7 off and is paid by the visit.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Current RN license in the state of Pennsylvania
- Minimum of two 2 years experience in patient care preferred
- Demonstrates excellent clinical skills
- Current CPR certification
- Solid computer skills, including Word
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
- Outstanding communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Reliable independent means of transportation with a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and at least the minimum state required vehicle insurance
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares to be dispatched to patients’ home as necessary.
- Implements and evaluates all skilled and technical patient / family care activities in accordance with the individualized plan of as directed by the RN member of the Interdisciplinary Group (IDG)
- Conducts a physical examination and observation of the patient at each skilled nursing visit or shift and as necessary.
Reports changes in the patient’s condition to the RN member of the IDG team
- Participates in patient and / or family teaching activities as outlined by the plan of care
- Provides care as established by the IDG to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient as necessary, and appropriately supports the family at the time of death
