Corporate Controller

This position is located in Honolulu

This position reports directly to the CFO. Under minimal supervision, the employee in this position works with the CFO on major economic and operational activities, plans and implements policies and procedures, maximizes return on investments, and protects company assets.

Essential Functions and Duties :

• Establishes or recommends major economic goals and policies for the company to management.
• Works closely with CFO and advises on desirable operational adjustments due to tax code revisions.
• Maintains checkbook register for all bank accounts to ensure the accuracy and validity of all bank transactions and that they are posted into the General Ledger accordingly.
• Updates Cash Flow spreadsheet for weekly distribution to the management team.
• Updates daily cash flow for distribution to Chairman, CEO, and CFO.
• Approves / processes wire / ACH payments and intercompany transfers.
• Prepares and supports balance sheet account reconciliations and analysis.
• Helps manage operational data and ensure data integrity and accuracy by developing internal control systems and adopting proper policies for financial reporting.
• Assists CFO in managing and analyzing company system hardware and software applications, including Aspen or Canopy applications.
• Helps as back-up for the Assistant Controller in reconciling and filing general excise taxes and 1099 forms.
• Assists CFO in the review and preparation of financial statements to ensure fairness and completeness of data, including account analysis and reconciliation to make sure that transactions are following current GAAP guidelines
• Works with the CFO in the preparation of financial audits
• Works with the Assistant Controller on contract audits.
• Assists CFO with the general supervision of the Accounting Department. Conducts regular department meetings.
• Helps supply technical support to different entities.
• Special projects, as necessary.

Other Duties :

• Supports and serves as backup for Accounting Manager and / or Assistant Controller.
• Attends company meetings as needed.
• Helps other positions in the accounting department as needed.

Working Conditions :

• Normal office conditions
• Inter-island travels as needed

Equipment Use :

• Proficient in using a computer, Microsoft Office, Excel Spreadsheets, Word documents, and other required software.
• Ability to use various office equipment, including but not limited to calculators, photocopiers, and facsimile machines.

• Ability to prioritize and organize workload to ensure deadlines are met.
• Able to manage stressful and challenging situations.
• Able to sit at a desk to do administrative duties.

Communication Demands :

• Must communicate verbally and in writing to employees, department managers, vendors, and customers.

• Ability to write procedural manuals, memos, policies, and procedures.
• Ability to negotiate contracts.

Qualification Requirements :

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field needed
• CPA or MBA preferred
• Exposure to finance and accounting systems
• Knowledge of current GAAP policies and procedures
• Minimum of six years of related work experience.
• Minimum of two years of experience in a supervisory capacity

Skills :

• Strong Accounting background, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Inventory
• Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
• Sound judgment, planning skills, and leadership traits.
