The Assistant Director of Admission (AD) for Parsons School of Design reports to the Associate Director of Admission for Parsons.

The incumbent is a dynamic and enthusiastic professional who will work independently and in a team environment to recruit highly qualified undergraduate and graduate students.

The AD will be an art and design specialist while also representing the myriad educational offerings at The New School to students and families, faculty and influencer networks.

This position requires extensive travel throughout the United States, and possibly some international travel as planned.

The incumbent must be flexible to work weekends and evenings during high travel and other high volume admission times, including fall and winter.

RESPONSIBILITIES Interview graduate and undergraduate students, conduct group information sessions, and travel throughout the United States to represent The New School at high schools, community colleges, college fairs, public and service organizations, and art and design recruitment events including National Portfolio Days.

This requires speaking publicly to individuals and groups during events and meetings on- and off-campus and assisting with planning and execution of all on-campus recruitment and portfolio review events for Parsons School of Design Responsible for (1) development of content and (2) planning and implementation of special portfolio workshops with Parsons pre-college programs, as well (3) acting as main liaison between the undergraduate Parsons admission office and Pre-College office.

Also oversee internal transfer process at the undergraduate level, including overseeing processing of applications, decisioning of students, and coordination with other offices as necessary Provide graduate and undergraduate administrative support to associate director of admission, including with event management and scheduling in Slate, and act on their behalf as necessary Manage application review and decision making on applicants from external sources Develop and maintain close working relationships with key secondary school constituents and field incoming communications (telephone calls and emails) from prospective students, parents, and college counselors interested in knowing or receiving information about the details of academic programs and community at The New School Review undergraduate and graduate admission applications, including international and transfer student credentials, and portfolios to determine eligibility for admission and maintain a strong understanding and accurate account of information about the academic programs and The New School community Oversee the undergraduate readmission application process and inquiries, including (1) the overseeing of providing specific details and instruction about the readmission process to students who desire to return to TNS, (2) overseeing and coordinating with the program director and liaising directly with other departments as necessary, including faculty and advising offices, as well as the bursar and financial aid Decision all readmission students in coordination with the senior director and deans office or program directors as necessary Make outgoing communications (telephone calls, emails and social media posts) to prospective students, parents and college counselors and assist in the development, maintenance and execution of the departments communication plan to prospective and admitted students, as well as initiate unsolicited leads and generate new business when appropriate Facilitate the enhancement and maintenance of the admission social media plan that is designed to engage prospective students, their families, and others who desire a relationship with art and design at The New School Provide basic information and routine advice, guidance and assistance to prospective and current students using established procedures and policies on available programs and eligibility requirements, including the application of policies, procedures and documentation regarding the admissions process Serve as a liaison between the student and the community of The New School, and assist in the completion of necessary enrollment forms Data entry and management of data as needed, such as executing reports to assess the effectiveness of admission policies and procedures and maintain general knowledge on financial aid processes, staying current on industry trends and best practices of the profession of college admission counseling Provide portfolio review training to new staff and part-time counselors, as well as training across the team, new and current staff members, on Slate query development, application reading, and other tasks as necessary that are related to new hire onboarding, in conjunction with associate director and senior director Other duties as assigned by supervisor MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelors Degree Outstanding interpersonal skills Excellent oral and written communication skills Sincere interest in working with diverse populations Valid drivers license and passport Facility with Microsoft Office Suite PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Coursework or major in art and design Experience with CRM or databases WORK MODE Hybrid / Remote - Employees hired for this position primarily work remotely with the occasional on-campus presence required, with advanced notice .

Employees in this role will also be expected to use their best judgment to be on campus when necessary in order to best fulfill the responsibilities of their job descriptions.

NOTE : The employee is solely responsible for all costs incurred to travel to campus when required. SALARY RANGE $65,000 - $70,000 We look forward to receiving your application!
