About The Position
Job Title : Central Sterile Processing Technician Job Specialty : Central Processing Job Duration : 13 weeks Shift : Evening, Sunday-Thursday, 5 PM - 1 : 30 AM, 5x8 Hr shifts Guaranteed Hours : 40.
00 hours per week Experience : Preferred : Previous experience in a hospital or clinic operating room License : N / A Certifications : N / A Must-Have : - High school diploma or equivalent- Ability to communicate effectively within a multi-functional team- Experience and understanding in the use of computers and software relevant to Sterile Processing- Capability to function in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment- Willingness to work nights and / or weekends Job Description : Responsible for assembling, cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, and / or storing procedure trays, surgical trays, and equipment.
- Assemble, distribute, and / or deliver disposable and durable medical equipment, case carts, and supplies to meet the needs of the Operating Room, Nursing Units, Ancillary Departments, and Clinics.
- Operate and monitor sterilization equipment.- Disassemble carts and follow Universal Precautions for decontamination.- Sterilize and disinfect durable medical equipment and instruments, package clean supplies and instruments, and maintain records for all instruments.
- Transport sterilized items to the appropriate floor.- Assemble sterilized instruments and recheck all instruments for cleanliness and / or impairment.
Properly check power equipment.- Ensure easy instrument tracking by following labeling processes, using an engraver, and documenting any missing instruments or implants replaced in trays.
- Communicate equipment and instrument inventory status with the Central Processing staff and Surgery Charge Nurse, including order status and back orders.
- Respond to emergency situations by ensuring all emergency, trauma, and add-on cases are supplied properly and delivered to the Operating Room in a timely manner.
- Utilize applications and technology for accurate record-keeping in accordance with State and Federal regulations.- Provide on-the-job training to newly hired associates in the department.
- Promote the mission, vision, and values of the health organization and adhere to service behavior standards.- Perform other duties as assigned.
- May be required to work extra hours or float to other departments as needed.- May be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.
