Job Description
Responsibilities
Performs hospital cleaning duties, such as cleans patient and non-patient care area according to position schedule and approved cleaning procedures.
Transports and secures trash, biohazardous waste and soiled linen. Operates equipment for hard surface and carpet floor care.
Assists the Surgical Services team in duties that support an efficient and safe work environment. These duties include assisting with OR Room turnover and cleaning, set up of surgical equipment.
Greets others, including patients, families and staff, supporting a friendly, healing environment.

Qualifications
EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE :
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Experience providing floor care maintenance and knowledge of equipment and products, preferred
- Previous housekeeping experience, preferred
material to perform essential job functions. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from manager, patients, customers, and the general public.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
- Familiar with required safety / testing procedures.
- Oversees and implements diversity specific safety plans and implements accident prevention / safety measures.
- Knowledge and understanding of cleaning procedures.
- Understands and practices good body mechanics.
- Understands proper handling of bio-hazardous waste and chemicals.
- Understands and practices infection control and isolation procedures.
Ability to work cooperatively with a wide variety of team members
POSITION SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Performs proper cleaning procedures for all patient and non-patient areas.
- Cleans rooms from top to bottom, cleanest to dirtiest.
- Strips floors and extracts carpets according to approved procedures.
- Employees must keep cleaning cart in sight at all times while cleaning.
- Lays finish on hard surface floors according to approved procedures. Burnishes hard surface floors according to approved procedures.
- Details rooms / areas during low census days without prompting from supervisor.
- Assists in the preparation of beds for receiving admissions
- Assures confidentiality of all patient information
- Responds to patient and visitor questions and needs immediately
- Reports equipment that is out of order
- Cleans equipment and returns to storage areas when needed
