The Prevention, Education, and Treatment ( Center is operated by Jackson and the Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County, is committed to the well-being and health of its community.

The center's mission is to provide prevention, education, and treatment of HIV / AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases.

Its focus is on early intervention followed by primary care services, including medical care, dental care, case management, nutritional services, and psychiatric care.

The . Center facilitates referrals to Jackson Memorial Hospital and other Ryan White HIV / AIDS Program medical providers for specialized services, as needed.

Summary

The Dentist is responsible for planning, management and evaluation of Dental Services at Jackson Health System and its satellite facilities.

The Dentist will be responsible for general dental care of children, adolescents and adult patients.

Responsibilities

Plans, develops and implements dental programs in close collaboration with the Medical Director to ensure that all patients presenting themselves for dental services are provided with appropriate treatment and proper disposition for their particular needs.

Assures that all dental services meet or exceed standards required by the Joint Commission of Accreditation of Hospitals and State of Florida Licensure requirements.

Documents dental records of assigned patients in a manner, which is consistent with acceptable dental practice and age-specific requirements.

Assumes clinical responsibility for and participates in utilization review and quality assessment and improvement programs which have been identified as monitoring procedures for evaluating patient care.

Contributes to the achievement of overall health center objectives and sound medical practice by serving on appointed committees and participating in their designated purposes.

Meets at least monthly with the health center's medical director and other health center providers. Participates in an on-going continuing dental education program.

Attends meetings and conferences as directed. Supervises clinically and administratively all assigned dental personnel. Prepares and presents performance evaluations to assigned staff.

  • Establishes and updates dental services policies and procedures for patient care. Endeavors to attain the highest quality medical care by cooperation and communication with other medical and non-medical personnel in the achievement of their designated responsibilities.
  • Performs all patient care procedures in an age-appropriate manner. Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of the continuous Quality Improvement Plan to identify improvement opportunities.

Ensures development and implementation of organization-wide and unit specific, age-specific, safety, security and infection control standards.

Allocates adequate resources commensurate with authority to assess and improve service provided. Communicates the organization's mission and vision to all staff.

Motivates and maintains an effective staff to carry out assigned responsibilities in cooperation with the Medical Director.

Performs other related duties as assigned. Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise).

Experience

Generally requires 3 to 5 years of related experience.

Education

Doctorate degree in Medicine is required.

Credentials

  • Valid Florida Medical License
  • DEA License
  • Board certification based on specialty are required.
  • Other specialty certifications related to specialty are a plus.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and any additional applicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers is required upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment.
