Overview
The Regional Director of Planned Giving within Hillsdale College’s Gift and Estate Planning Department serves as a leader in high-end donor relations and tax-related planned giving vehicles.
Must be proficient in identifying and cultivating new and existing donors. Possesses extensive, verbal, writing, and people skills accompanied with the ability to communicate the College’s mission effectively.
High integrity and devotion to donor intent and donor satisfaction are a must. Remote work with 40% of travel expected This territory will consist mostly of the Texas region .
Additional nationwide travel will be required. Candidates must be experienced in the world of philanthropy, strategic thinking and be self-motivated to succeed.

Responsibilities
- Plan and execute donor initiatives leading to major gifts and bequest designations.
- Either have an existing knowledge of tax law and how it impacts and enhances donor giving and the ability to provide an income stream for the donor or possess an aptitude to be trained on such matters.
- Travel extensively throughout given region and across the country to attend high-profile College events and develop and maintain donor relationships.
- Experience in databases such as constituent management systems.
- Strong analytical and project management skills.
- Self-motivated and goal orientated through approach to fundraising.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Finance, Economics, Marketing or Accounting. Prior experience in development or fundraising or 3 to 5 years or equivalent work, preferably in an institution of higher education or similarly complex organization desired.
Previous charitable planned giving experience or proficient knowledge of charitable giving vehicles preferred. Familiarity with Hillsdale College’s history and mission is a plus.
Personal Characteristics
The Gift and Estate Planning Office interacts with current donors and potential donors. A neat appearance and a pleasant relationship that is supportive of the College mission is essential.
This relationship needs to be pleasant, supportive and professional, while maintaining confidentiality at all times.
Physical Requirements
Ability to read, write, hear, speak, see and communicate effectively. Ability to operate basic office equipment to include, photocopier, fax machine, adding machine, computer equipment, display monitors and the like.
Position is largely sedentary. Occasional lifting of office supplies, booklets, etc. is necessary.
