At Houston Methodist the Sr Staff RegisteredNurse (RN) position is responsible for functioning as an advancedclinician at the Proficient level according to Benners model ofclinical practice.
The Sr Staff RN position provides professionaldirect patient nursing care to a diverse patient population whichmay include patients with varied and complex needs and isconsidered an expert in a specialty.
Besides conducting nursingassessments assisting with exams and treatment and maintenance ofmedical records this position assists in coaching and mentoringdepartment staff in areas of clinical and professional practice.
Role modeling compassionate communication with physicians and theinterprofessional health care team the Sr Staff RN position assumesleadership responsibilities with high level contributions in thedepartment and across the institution.
Responsibilities for thisposition may include but are not limited to leading departmentclinical activities assessing department needs related to practiceand improvement opportunities serving as a clinical resource fordepartment staff and coordinating department education inpartnership with management.

EDUCATION
Bachelorsdegree or higher from an accredited school of nursing OR Associatesdegree from an accredited school of nursing with an additional twoyears of nursing experience (in addition to the minimum experiencerequirements listedbelow)
WORKEXPERIENCE
- Three years ofnursing experience
- Oneyear in specialty preferred
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONSREQUIRED
- RN Registered NurseTexas State Licensure and / or Compact State Licensure within 60 days OR
- RNTemp Registered NurseTemporary State Licensure within 60 days AND
- BLS Basic Life Support(AHA) AND
