Nemours Children's Health in Wilmington, Delaware, is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to join our Pain Management team in delivering the highest quality of care and support to our patients and their families.
This position offers a highly desirable work schedule, Monday to Friday, days.
The APP works collaboratively with attending anesthesiologists, surgeons, perioperative team, and sub-specialists to provide care, guidance, and expert consultation using a multi-modal approach, with a strong emphasis on post-operative care to support the management of acute post-operative pain, acute or chronic pain, and opioid / benzodiazepine weaning.
Modalities include regional anesthesia therapies and include the management of peripheral nerve blocks and epidurals for patients with acute pain in the hospital setting.
The Pain Management APP provides expert opinion as a member of hospital and enterprise-wide committees and engages in QI / I projects related to pediatric pain management.
Essential Functions
- Perform appropriate assessment of patient / family upon referral / admission and documents history and physical exam data.
- Assist with pain management recommendations and modalities in perioperative patients in partnership with the perioperative team.
- Assist in managing opioid and non-opioid analgesic infusions and opioid / benzodiazepine weaning during inpatient hospitalizations on the inpatient floor(s).
- Provide guidance and expert consultation regarding pain management care through evaluation, modification, and documentation of care plans based on the patient's response to therapy.
- Serve as clinical preceptor for APP students and other health professionals.
- Provide ongoing education and support surrounding pain management to patients, families, and other health care providers.
Requirements
- Current PNP certification in acute care
- Active Delaware (or compact state) Registered Nurse licensure required
- Active Delaware Advance Practice Licensure with prescriptive authority
- Delaware Controlled Substance Registration (CSR)
- Federal DEA with Delaware address
- Current AHA HCP, ACLS, and BLS certification required
- Demonstrated proficiency in the care of all age groups : neonates, infants, toddlers, school aged, adolescents and adults.
New graduates may be considered; one year of experience is preferred.
