ABOUT GREAT SOUTHERN MENTAL HEALTH SERVICE
The Great Southern Mental Health Service (GSMHS) is a specialist service that provides acute inpatient and community care to mental health clients within the Great Southern region.
The GSMHS has multi-disciplinary teams who provide high quality mental health care. The teams located in Albany and Katanning provide outreach services to surrounding areas.
The region is split into the Lower Great Southern (LGS) and Central Great Southern (CGS).
The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) is located in the LGS with clinics based in Albany Health Campus and Katanning Health Service.
Patients are presented via a range of acute presentations ranging from affective and psychotic disorders, personality and eating disorders and addiction.
The service prides itself in utilising the biopsychosocial model of care facilitating this model by working with a multidisciplinary team of mental health nurses, social workers, and psychiatrists in a range of subspecialities including Consultation Liaison (CL), Child and Adolescent, addiction, perinatal and old age.
QUALIFICATIONS
As the Consultant Psychiatrist for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) based in the Lower Great Southern (LGS), you will be responsible for the :
- Provision of clinical assessment and psychiatric treatment for children and adolescents in the Great Southern catchment populated for both admitted patients and in community Mental Health.
- Provision of clinical governance across the Great Southern for the Child and Adolescent MH Stream in consultation with the CAMHS Regional Team Leader and the other CAMHS psychiatrist.
- Provision of secondary consultation service during clinical hours for General Practitioners in the catchment area and participate in an after-hours on call Regional Psychiatry roster (1 in 5).
