About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse

Must-Have :

Safe medication administration including calculation of medications

Ability to administer medications and EMB using the 5 patient rights

Appropriate handling of EMB

Care of patients with NG / OG tubes

Follow feeding orders and recommendations from OT / ST

Care of patients on CPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula, Nasal Cannula

Care for patients with PIVs, PICCs, UACs / UVCs

Ability to safely care for patients 22 weeks and above

Understanding of all equipment in the NICU

Promotion of safe sleeping for infants at 32-34 weeks gestation

Ability to demonstrate developmentally appropriate care when handling preterm infants

Proficiency in lab draws

Knowledge in escalating patient concerns and NAS scoring

Description :

This unit has 42 beds and 103 staff members.

The team comprises of CNCs, Transport RNs, unit secretaries, and unit techs based on census and acuity.

Patient ratios are L3 2 : 1 and 1 : 1 depending on acuity, and L2 3 : 1.

Equipment includes radiant warmers, isolettes, syringe pumps, feeding pumps, vents, oscillators, JETs, CPAP, NIPPV, high flow nasal cannula, nasal cannulas, EKG monitors, and breast milk warmers.

The EMR system used is CPN and Meditech.

Typical procedures performed in this unit include intubations, UAC / UVC placements, eye exams, X-rays, ultrasounds, EEG, EKG, lumbar punctures, lab draws, PICC placements, circumcisions, and bedside surgical procedures.

Ideal candidates will be team players, open to receiving feedback, and contribute positively to the unit culture.

Weekend commitments include 4 weekends for days and 5 weekends for nights.
