High School - Assistant Coach - Winter Sports

Requirements :
- Bachelor’s Degree required. Previous related work experience with children in an education setting may be substituted for education requirement.
- Previous experience coaching in a similar sport strongly preferred.
- Must possess teaching and coaching techniques appropriate to the sport assigned.
- Current Certification in First Aid, CPR, AED and Concussion.
- First Aid, CPR, AED and Concussion training required.
- Must be available to attend activities, practices and meetings outside of school hours as necessary.
- Certification as required by MIAA.
- Must be dependable and reliable.
- Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Ability to relate well to others.
Responsibilities :
- Coaches individual participants in basic and advanced skills necessary for maximum individual achievement in the applicable sport.
- Provides leadership to athletic team
- Teaches, monitors and enforces appropriate standards of discipline and sportsmanlike behavior.
- Monitors adherence by athletes to the rules and regulations of the MIAA
- Follows the Coaches Responsibilities and Expectations attached (adapted from MIAA Sportsmanship Manual)
- Assists the Athletic Director in planning and scheduling a regular program of practice in-season and adhering to the schedule set by the Athletic Director.
- Keeps up to date with any necessary training for assigned sport;
- Attends regular coach meetings organized by the Athletic Director / Assistant Principal to discuss student eligibility, practice schedules, practice locations, documentation, equipment needs, and any general concerns or questions;
- Creates an environment where students are supported and encouraged to participate in the athletics program;
- Adheres to practice schedules, student practice rules and medical compliance as required by the league;
