Job Details
- Effective 11 / 30 / 24, IU Health will not allow IN RN’s to work at their facilities. The last day for IN RNs to start a NEW contract is 9 / 9 (allows them to finish a contract by 11 / 30).
- Periop / OR RN’s, Allied and Ambulatory RN travelers are exempt from this rule. These IN travelers are allowed to work past the 11 / 30 deadline.
- IU Health is now offering charge pay, which is a $3.00 bill rate bump per hour
- Skillset Requirements : Minimum 2 Year Experience; Will consider MedSurg RN with ICU and PCU patient experience with an additional two years.
- Staffing Ratios : PCU assignments are 1 : 4 and MedSurg assignments are 1 : 5-6.
Job Requirements
- Shift Requirements : 4x12 or 3x12
- Call-Ins : If a traveler call-ins for a contracted shift, requirements depending on FTE status must be met
- Weekends : Travelers are expected to work every other weekend with the potential need for consecutive weekends
- Charge coverage : Pending operational needs, unit charge nurse responsibilities may be needed with provided training and resources
- Floating Requirements : Unit travelers may be expected to float to different levels of care at both University and Methodist Hospitals

Unit Specific Information
- Our unit is a cardio-pulmonary unit, with an emphasis on pulmonary.
- Primary patient population includes cardiac medical, valve replacement, COPD, CHF, pulmonary fibrosis, lung cancer, lung transplant (pre and post), trach-to-vent, neurodegenerative diseases requiring trach-to-vent, trauma (cervical spinal fx) requiring trach-to-vent, flu, TB, and COVID19 (only 3 on unit currently).
Additional Details
- Effective 9 / 1, the COVID vaccine is required for all travelers at IU Health campuses.
- Medical or religious exemptions will be accepted with a doctor's note provided.
