Job Description : Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg / Oncology
Location : Sioux City, IA, 51104
Shift : Nights; 12-hour shift, 36 hours / week
Duration : 13 weeks
Job Description :
As a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Med Surg / Oncology unit, you will be responsible for providing and managing care for surgical and oncology patients, including those with high acuity conditions.
Working as part of an interdisciplinary team, your role is to apply professional nursing knowledge and skills to deliver patient care according to the nursing process and ensure safe, high-quality care.
You will utilize EPIC EMR to document patient information and coordinate care.
Responsibilities :
- Provide direct care to surgical and oncology patients, including assessments, administering medications, managing IVs, and performing wound care.
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to plan and implement patient care plans.
- Educate patients and families on post-surgical or cancer treatments, medications, and home care instructions.
- Continuously monitor patient conditions and adjust treatment plans based on ongoing assessments.
- Manage patients with complex and high-acuity needs, requiring advanced clinical skills.
- Accurately document patient information in EPIC.
- Adhere to hospital policies and procedures, particularly regarding safety and infection control.
Requirements :
Experience : 1+ year of Med Surg and / or Oncology experience.
Certifications :
- BLS (AHA or ARC).
- NIHSS - Can be obtained during onboarding.
- Travel Experience : Desired but not required.
- High Acuity Care : Experience with high-acuity patients is preferred.
