Department Profile :

The NEURO ICU 7 DCT at Duke University Hospital is comprised of a 35-bed state of art attached to the Level 1 Trauma Center.

Our Duke Neuro ICU achieved Stroke Gold Plus and Honor Roll Elite Plus recognition from the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association for Get with the Guidelines-Stroke’ and Target : Stroke’.

This is an award for having the most up-to-date evidence-based treatment guidelines to improve patient care and outcomes in the community we serve.

Work Hours & Shifts :

Full Time : 24-hour Responsibility (1.0 FTE 40 hour per week, coverage per operational needs)

Job Summary :

Manage and supervise functions of assigned patient care area on a 24-hour basis; ensure effective delivery of clinical patient care and compliance with administrative and clinical policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications :

• MSN strongly preferred
• Prior ICU experience in Level I Trauma center
• Prior leadership role with excellent communication skills
• Expertise with Acuity adaptable rooms.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required.A Master's degree in Nursing is strongly preferred.

Experience

Three years of nursing experience is required.

Degrees, Licensures, Certifications

Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BCLS certification required. Nurses hired into leadership positions must obtain a nursing leadership certification within one year of hire.

New nurse leaders who are ineligible to sit for an exam because they have not been working in a leadership role for the minimum amount of time required must complete their certification within three months of becoming eligible.
