We have an exciting opportunity for a Vice President - Development and Construction Management position. This individual will be experienced with all aspects of the construction process.

They should have a thorough understanding of all phases of industrial real estate development including, but not limited to, entitlements procurement, permitting process, trades management, and tenant improvement specifications.

This person will be a highly resourceful team player, who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, while remaining flexible, proactive, and efficient.

The individual will have the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, with strong communication and organizational skills, and the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities.

This position requires the highest level of confidentiality and diplomacy regarding all Cabot Properties, L.P. and Cabot Properties, Inc. information.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Work with Cabot Investment and Development officers to coordinate and lead site due diligence to ensure that all development risks are identified and quantified.
  • Manage project architect, engineer, and general contractor during the "pre-development" phase to produce accurate site plans, budgets, and timelines.
  • Lead the detailed design phase with an emphasis on best-in-class quality and cost control.
  • Define project scope and coordinate selection process for general contractor and major trades.
  • Negotiate agreements with contractors, municipalities, utilities, and abutters, as necessary.
  • Monitor construction performance and report to Cabot officers with respect to work quality, timing, and adherence to budget.
  • Attend weekly construction meetings and perform regular site visits.
  • Work closely with Cabot's Asset Managers, Property Managers, the architect, and general contractor to facilitate tenant improvements for new leases signed.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities consistent with the role as set forth above.

Qualifications and Experience :

  • Undergraduate degree with an excellent academic background required (engineering or architectural degree preferred).
  • 5-10 years of real estate construction management experience, with significant analytical skills, and preferably a history with industrial or logistics specific investments.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with private funds and industrial or logistics real estate is preferred.
  • Team player with a pro-active approach.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook).
  • Self-motivated, high attention to detail, ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast paced- environment.
  • High level of professionalism and demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality as required and appropriate.

Physical / Mental / Visual Demands and Work Environment :

  • The job is conducted in an office work environment, sitting most of the time.
  • Approximately 90% of this position's duties require use of a computer.
  • Frequent domestic travel both in a vehicle and by plane.
