Position Overview

Mass. Electric Construction Co. (MEC) is a subsidiary of the Kiewit Corporation, since our founding in 1928 in Boston, Massachusetts, Mass.

Location

This position is based out of Waltham, MA.

Responsibilities

  • Develop complete understanding of contract plans and specifications.
  • Review, analyze and resolve design / construction problems, discrepancies and interferences with the design team, project leadership, Client, and contractors as required.
  • Ensure that all project engineering activities comply with company and contract requirements and support the development and maintenance of the overall construction schedule.
  • Provide technical support for construction effort including participation in design interpretation, application of construction methods, identification, resolution and documentation of design conflicts, constructability reviews, etc.
  • Develop, implement, and administer document control program. Responsible for maintaining all design documents to be current with onsite construction operations.
  • Responsible for submittal tracking, project logs; all processing, coordination, and documentation as required to facilitate project.
  • Represent company as required during design review meetings with the design team, project coordination meetings with contractors, etc.
  • Assist project leadership with development of scopes of work to create and confirm subcontracts and vendor purchase orders.
  • Oversee the development and periodic updates to the project master schedule using appropriate techniques and scheduling software.
  • Oversee Contract Administration team, review revisions to drawings and contract documents for change of conditions.
  • Prepare monthly cost projections using information generated from project management systems and prepare quarterly cash flow projections.
  • Help drive the company's environmental health and safety programs at the project level.
  • Manage and support the project team including direct reports and others as needed.
  • Successfully perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a construction-related field or equivalent experience and education in project or field engineering.
  • 7+ years’ experience in the construction or engineering field.
  • Proven abilities and skills in leadership and management of people, communication (verbal and written), planning, organization, delegation, teaching, and mentoring.
  • Ability to set standards of excellence in leadership, safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Must demonstrate excellent team leadership and management skills.
  • Proficiency in managing project engineering and related functions and activities.
  • Working knowledge and ability to direct the operation of management systems : accounts payable / accounts receivable, materials control, estimating, job cost updates and subcontracts.

Base Compensation : $138,000 / yr - $145,000 / yr

Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and / or location)
