BEST Logistics Group is NOW HIRING a Safety Manager to join our Safety Team here at BEST Logistics Group!

The Safety Manager will be responsible for providing a variety of support for the Safety Department, as well as partnering closely with our fleets and other business units to ensure safe, efficient, compliant operations while increasing productivity.

There will be frequent interaction with management, drivers, technicians, and other support staff to act as a dedicated resource pertaining to safety program, and procedures to ensure the well-being of our drivers, vehicles, and the public.

There will be occasional interaction requiring detailed procedural explanations or technical responses related to the transportation industry, specifically DOT and FMCSA-regulated CDL Holders.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Along with our Field Safety Manager, and at the direction of our Director of Safety, participating in regular safety meetings, delivering content to specific groups on a variety of industry & company specific topics.
  • Assist with the monitoring of unsafe driving (MVR, complaints, accidents, telematics events, etc.) as well as driver incentives and recognition.
  • Providing direct support to our Director of Safety, in regards to accident management; reporting, investigation, corrective action, and claims support on an as needed basis.
  • Strong emphasis on FMCSA and DOT related regulations and updates to best practices to ensure our drivers are gaining the most relevant knowledge, while also supporting us proactively in compliance, to include oversight of new hire files and update existing documents in current driver qualification files as needed.
  • Helping to ensure a smooth process of verifying and returning DOT verification of employment for requesting companies.
  • Helping to ensure regular updates are made to our Master Driver List for compliance purposes, and updating documentation such as license and medical cards
  • Working within our Pedigree system to create new driver profiles for ELD systems as well as monitor and provide coaching on Hours of Service as needed, as well as troubleshooting
  • Acting as our roadside administrator, maintaining files, and helping to ensure delivery of incentives
  • Incident Tracker and File Management Administration
  • Titling / Plates for equipment purchased or renewals needed.
  • Availability to be on-call for Safety Support, on a rotational basis (once every 5 weeks)
  • Driver & associate coaching and discipline, as required
  • Other tasks, duties, or strategic projects as assigned by our Director of Safety.

Ideal candidate will possess :

  • Knowledge of Safety and Compliance within a Transportation, Supply Chain or Logistics industry
  • Knowledge of DOT and FMCSR Regulations
  • Familiarity with Hours of Service for CDL A Drivers
  • Problem-solving ability within a fast-paced environment
  • Be a motivated self-starter
  • Experience in MS Office, particularly Excel; knowledge of TenStreet highly helpful as well
  • CDL Class A preferred (but not required)
