Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Registered Respiratory Therapist Discipline : Allied Health Professional Start Date : 11 / 03 / 2025 Duration : 12 weeks 36 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, nights Employment Type : Travel Respiratory Therapist – Level I Trauma Facility Location : Urbana, IL Department : Respiratory Care Nights Start dates : Each Monday in November- 11 / 3-11 / 20 Position Summary The Respiratory Therapist provides high-quality, evidence-based respiratory care to patients across all age groups in a Level I Trauma Center environment. This position plays a critical role as part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team, managing acute and chronic respiratory disorders and supporting patients in critical care, emergency, neonatal, and general care units. Key Responsibilities Perform comprehensive assessments and administer all therapeutic and diagnostic respiratory care modalities in accordance with physician orders and hospital protocols. Manage mechanical ventilation, including initiation, monitoring, weaning, and troubleshooting across adult, pediatric, and neonatal populations. Respond rapidly to all Code Blue , Rapid Response , and Trauma activations, providing advanced airway management and resuscitation support. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes and coordinate individualized care plans. Monitor, document, and evaluate patient responses to therapy, adjusting treatment as necessary. Operate and maintain respiratory therapy equipment, ensuring readiness and compliance with infection control and safety standards. Educate patients and families on respiratory treatments, equipment use, and disease management. Participate in continuing education, quality improvement initiatives, and departmental meetings to maintain best practices and current clinical knowledge.
