We are looking for :
Ophthalmology Veterinary Technician Assistant
The Ophthalmology team is unique in that it specializes in appointment-based patient care, as well as assisting and preparing for surgeries.
Ophthalmology is a fast-paced service with a high caseload, alternating between appointment and surgery days. The Sterile Processing Assistant performs decontamination, preparation, sterilization, and distribution of instrumentation and medical equipment for surgeries and procedures, utilizing infection control and safety practices during all phases of the process.
What you'll do :
- Assist with patient restraint during exams
- Maintaining proper sterile technique
- Enter exam charges
- Create and discuss estimates with clients
- Proactive distribution of all necessary equipment and instrumentation for surgeries and procedures
- Collecting used and contaminated equipment, instruments, and supplies for sorting and decontamination
- Accurately handle and care for instruments, including appropriate selection of cleaning agents, lubricants, examination for function, identification, and assembly
- Preparing and packing decontaminated supplies for sterilization
- Operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of sterilization equipment
- Assembling, disassembling, and disinfecting operating and procedure rooms
Who are you :
- High school diploma of equivalent
- Prior veterinary experience required, previous ophthalmology experience desired
- Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Critical thinking skills and ability to anticipate needs inter & intra-departmentally
- Ability to stay on task and work energetically for entire shift, sometimes up to 10 hours per day
- Eager to learn more about diseases and medication specific to ophthalmology
