The Y strives every day to provide a welcoming place where anyone from beginning exercisers to competitive athletes can come to improve their health and well-being and have fun.

A Day in the Life of a Member Services Associate :

You’ll play an absolutely essential role in growing our membership. In fact, you’ll be one of the first friendly faces a potential new member sees at the Y.

You’ll be an active listener focused on developing sustainable relationships and determining individual goals and interests of our members.

New members will rely on you and existing members will come to know you as a person who can get stuff done. You get to be the person that helps our members understand how to make the most of their time at the Y -

You’ll greet, interview and lead tours for potential future members, follow up on membership inquiries, and do community outreach to increase tour numbers and find potential future members

You’ll answer questions, offer suggestions to ensure our members know they are welcomed, cared for, and have a sense of community and belonging

Be an ambassador for our Y’s goals by educating members on our not-for-profit mission

You'll learn a lot. You're not stuck doing one task here. You’ll get to use your outstanding customer service skills, top notch administrative skills, and help keep our membership database organized and up to date -

Process registrations, change forms, transactions and cancellations

Track and provide sales, terminations, recovery, and wellness appointment data updates to supervisor

Qualifications

To be successful as a Member Services Associate, you’ll have passion, enthusiasm, commitment, and understanding of the nonprofit mission and cause of the YMCA.

You have a desire to serve members, volunteers, guests, participants, and staff, and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

You’re a professional and a team player. You possess problem-solving skills, demonstrate sound judgment, and take initiative.

You are highly organized and a gifted multi-tasker!

You understand the importance of protecting confidential information.

Technology is your friend! You have strong computer skills and don’t shy away from learning new programs!

You understand the Y is an ever-changing, dynamic environment and requires flexibility in scheduling.

Minimum 16 years of age

Previous sales or customer service experience a plus

Multilingual a plus

Certifications Required :

Your success is important to us! The YMCA of Middle Tennessee will provide each of the following trainings / certifications

Before start of 1st shift : New Hire Orientation training

During 1st week : Membership Software training

Within 30 days of hire : CPR Pro / First Aid / AED

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand; walk on uneven surfaces; sit; handle or feel objects;

reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.

The employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level is usually minimal to moderate.
