Senior Credit Manager
Job Overview
We are seeking a Senior Credit Manager to lead the North American credit and collections function for a dynamic manufacturing organization.
In this critical role, you will establish operational standards for credit risk assessment, approval processes, and customer portfolio management, ensuring a balance between supporting sales growth and controlling credit exposure.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience in credit management within the manufacturing sector, leading teams, setting policies, and managing international credit risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead North American customer credit and collection functions, establishing standards for risk assessment, credit approval, and portfolio management.
- Manage, hire, mentor, and develop a team of four credit professionals, providing guidance on priorities and performance expectations.
- Enforce credit policies, ensuring compliance with internal controls, and regularly communicate these policies to global stakeholders.
- Analyze financial statements and other data to evaluate customer creditworthiness and identify potential risks.
- Collaborate with senior management and other business units to assess and approve deviations from standard credit terms.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships by addressing credit concerns and optimizing services.
- Prepare and present monthly credit metrics and status updates to the CFO and other business leaders.
- Provide international credit risk management support, including advising on export documentation, foreign exchange, credit insurance, and country-specific regulations.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in a Credit Manager role.
- NACM Credit Designation preferred.
- Strong understanding of credit statutes (liens, bonds, bankruptcy, Uniform Commercial Code).
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills; adept at delegation and team leadership.
- Prior experience in credit management within a manufacturing environment with a focus on metrics and process improvement.
- Familiarity with SAP and Lock Box for efficient cash application.
