Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer / Ultrasound Tech with ARDMS or ARRT credentials and BLS for a float role with EPIC charting.

Responsibilities

  • Work primarily in a hospital radiology ultrasound department with potential floating to any location within a 60-mile float zone
  • Performs a variety of ultrasound procedures including abdominal, pelvic, OB, head, extremity, retroperitoneal, small parts, vascular, and occasional cardiac studies
  • Adult and pediatric patient population
  • 10-hour day shifts with weekday and weekend on-call rotation per unit requirements
  • Uses EPIC EMR for charting
  • Responsible for performing and producing quality ultrasound images and exams in a timely and accurate manner
  • Prepares patients for procedures and provides information and compassionate assistance throughout the process
  • Assists with IV starts and contrast administration as required
  • Maintains equipment, room cleanliness, technical operations, and documentation related to equipment maintenance
  • On-call coverage required according to department and facility policy
  • Participates in department quality initiatives and accreditation processes
  • No local travelers permitted; candidates must live more than 60 miles from the facility
  • Flu vaccination required during flu season with case-by-case medical exemptions only; no religious exemptions allowed
  • Scrubs or professional attire required as per department policy
  • Ongoing education and in-service participation encouraged
  • Participation in clinical training for new staff and students may be expected

    • Requirements

  • HS diploma or GED required
  • Current ARDMS (RDMS in OB / GYN, AB, BR, RVT, RDCS) or ARRT (R.T.(S), R.T.(S)(BS), R.T.(S)(VS)) certification required
  • American Heart Association BLS required
  • At least one year of ultrasound experience strongly preferred
  • License required if applicable
  • No pending licenses allowed; all certifications must be current and active
  • Must be able to float within a 60-mile radius as assigned
