Job Description
St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Parish of Cary is seeking a full-time Facilities Technician, responsible for providing repairs on campus to help provide a safe and hospitable environment.
The Facilities Technician, in conjunction with the Facilities Supervisor, assists with all aspects of the property's maintenance including the physical grounds, custodial, preventative, corrective, and emergency.
An integral part of the Operations Team, they are passionate about ensuring every parishioner and visitor to the campus receives the best possible experience and strives to keep the facilities as well-running and welcoming as possible.
Essential Duties and responsibilities
A. Performs minor repairs to building systems and equipment on campus grounds. Provides updates to maintain accurate records of all maintenance repairs and ensures all actionable preventative maintenance corrections are completed.
B. Plan work activities and establish work schedules and custodial staffing requirements. Schedule and assign the work of maintenance and grounds.
Work with all departments to ensure maintenance of facility projects are completed in a timely manner.
C. Inspect campus buildings, parish rectory, and convent on a regular basis to determine any extraordinary maintenance needs and discuss with supervisor to schedule for repair.
D. Actively review the submitted facilities tickets and perform maintenance tasks in a timely and appropriate manner.
E. Monitor and maintain outdoor systems : sprinkler system, clear sidewalks and entrances of yard debris, sidewalk snow and ice preventative treatment, reset bricks as needed for level.
F. Perform minor grounds maintenance as needed between regular landscape maintenance : minor pest treatments, minor bed and hedge clean-up, occasional weed whacking.
G. Regularly spot-clean and repair carpeting, upholstery, chairs and tables throughout campus.
H. Oversee maintenance and repair of all parish-owned custodial equipment, landscape equipment, as well as maintaining and inventorying parish-owned tools, ladders, and carts.
I. Maintain parish vehicles - schedule regular oil changes and general maintenance and upkeep.
J. Provide general carpentry as needed : repair doors / frames / hardware, drywall repairs, window repairs, wood trim repairs.
K. Provide touch-up paint as needed.
L. Provide minor electrical repairs as needed : change light bulbs, check receptacles and replace as needed.
M. Provide minor plumbing repairs as needed : repair of clogs, leaking faucets / toilets, change water fountain filters.
N. Provide minor HVAC repairs as needed : change filters as needed, maintain t-stats.
O. Works with day-time custodial staff as needed for office furniture moves, room set-up / tear-down
P. Serves as primary contact for facility related emergencies, which may require evening and weekend work.

Qualifications
A. Understanding of the Catholic faith and commitment to St. Michael the Archangel's mission of Worship, Education, and Service.
B. A minimum of two (2) years' experience in maintenance or subcontracting experience with knowledge and understanding of technical subjects.
C. Minimum of high school degree is required.
D. Knowledge of electrical, plumbing and heating maintenance to be able to perform minor repairs / replacement and / or to diagnose problems.
E. Knowledge of OSHA and other environmental regulations.
F. Ability to work well with others in a cooperative team-based atmosphere.
G. Possess strong organization and communication skills, as well as the ability to prioritize tasks, but have the flexibility to handle unexpected or last-minute requests appropriately.
H. Comfortable using basic technology such as Outlook and Microsoft Teams.
I. Working knowledge of Spanish is a plus.
