Health Information Services Manager

The Manager of Health Information Management (HIM) Operations oversees the HIM Department's operations and staff. This position is responsible to plan, develop, implement, evaluate and manage the maintenance of health records at United Hospital District. This position ensures compliance with state and federal laws, accreditation standards, and Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules, and Regulations. Essential functions include :

• Supervises all HIM staff, consisting of Health Information Specialists and coding staff. Monitors the department budget. Provides cross coverage for staff vacancies and time-off. Serves as a resource person for HIM topics. Monitors quality of department functions and productivity. Assures compliance with state and federal laws, regulations, accreditation standards, and Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules, and Regulations. Seeks ways to improve area operations. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, evaluating and facilitating the development of new employees. Performs all supervisory functions including preparing performance evaluations. Provides employees with guidance and handles any disciplinary action in accordance with established personnel policies. Outlines and conducts effective training and orientation programs for all assigned personnel. Leadership and Certified Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) preferred.
