Sunbelt Staffing is looking for a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) Med Surg / Neuro to join a leading healthcare facility in Milwaukee, WI.
This role is crucial for delivering patient care across various medical conditions, including neuro, spine, and general medical issues.
The position is ideal for first-time travelers and offers a comprehensive experience in a dynamic healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities :
- Provide nursing care for patients with neuro conditions such as craniectomies, strokes, TIAs, seizures, and dementia.
- Manage spinal patients undergoing anterior, posterior, or lateral fusions and discectomy.
- Address general medical overflow including wounds, chest pain, COVID, sepsis, pneumonia, COPD, CHF, GI bleeding, and cellulitis.
- Perform wound care, including the use of wound vacs and incision care.
- Conduct neuro checks, trach management (T-mist mask), and drain / tube management.
- Administer BiPap, HFNC, and support post-surgical recovery, especially spinal.
- Sign off on rhythm strips; if unfamiliar with tele, a CRN will assist.
- Float to various units as needed : MSU, Tele, COVID, MS Overflow, and ED Holding (MST patients waiting for a bed).
Qualifications :
- BLS and NIHSS certifications required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Med Surg / Neuro nursing required.
- Skills in basic Med Surg care, wound care, neuro checks, and post-surgical recovery.
- Preferred experience includes chest tube management, lumbar drains, IV skills, and cardiac rhythm interpretation.
- Experience with EPIC charting system is preferred.
- Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and onboarding in compliance with the Joint Commission.
- 50-mile radius rule applies.
