Find your superpower with the Graduate Development Program

National Grid’s Graduate Development Program (GDP) is a year-long development program for recent college graduates who aspire to take on future leadership roles in a dynamic, ever-changing industry.

Graduates will shape the future of National Grid. Bringing fresh thinking, new perspectives, and exploring with energy, we’ll give you real responsibility and an opportunity to move with purpose from day one putting the power to supercharge your career in your hands.

Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an in-depth 3-week in-person Orientation which gives you exposure to all parts of the company, allows you to network with your Graduate cohort, GDP alumni, and senior leaders, and provides you with the opportunity to travel throughout our service territory in the northeast US.

Following Orientation, you’ll begin working in full-time position outlined below and take part in ongoing development activities including quarterly development sessions, active mentorship, and a Hackathon Project.

About the Position

As an Associate Program Manager, you will be a part of the Reliability Compliance & Policy team which ensures National Grid is compliant with NERC Reliability Standards, NPCC, and ISO requirements.

You will support the fulfillment of the regulatory obligations under which our business activities are conducted and help enable the reliability, resiliency, and security of the Bulk Electric System.

You will receive training, support, and mentorship from the Reliability Compliance & Policy team as you begin your career!

Our Reliability Compliance Program is a risk-based framework that :

  • Communicates compliance information and requirements to affected entities, functions, and operations personnel.
  • Delivers and promotes an effective culture of compliance across the business.
  • Guides and supports the achievement of continuous improvement in compliance performance.

This is a hybrid role with 1-2days per week in the office.

What You’ll Do

You will be able to accelerate your learning with the great exposure to different stakeholders, departments, and projects!

You will :

  • Lead discussions with internal stakeholders to develop responses to regulatory information requests
  • Prepare Incident Analysis (IA) reports, compliance assessments, and develop Internal Controls
  • Support planning and development of audit deliverables
  • Engage with regulators, peer utilities, and industry organizations
  • Support ad hoc initiatives for process improvement and development of the Reliability Compliance program

What You'll Need

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Legal, Public Policy, Engineering, Political Science, or other related majors from an accredited institution

Graduated between May 2024 and June 2025

Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program on June 2, 2025 or July 7, 2025

Valid driver’s license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy

Applicants for the Graduate Development Program must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States (such as sponsorship for an H-1B, TN, O, L, STEM OPT, or other employment-based work authorization)

  • Interest in regulatory framework, audit, or policy
  • Participated in a club / organization focused on politics, student government, etc.
